The world is ending. How funny is that? Pretty darn funny, at least as depicted in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Evil must-see plot on our collective unconscious or not, You, Me and the Apocalypse is a genuine treat.
As end-of-the-world tales go, it's watchable, fairly unpredictable and garnished with a palpable subplot that in some ways is more intriguing than whatever the end game might be.
Comedy or drama, stars or non-stars, half-hour or an hour, the show doesn't fit snugly into a preexisting mold, and that's always a plus. So call it whatever you like: It's still good, no matter what.
Quirky, uneven oddball that will appeal to a few. Best to wait for all episodes to stream and go ahead and binge. There may not have ever been a good show buried in all these misfiring elements, but even so, Hollands has picked a poor way to tell his story.
You, Me and the Apocalypse surprised me at nearly every turn -- the characters shine, the plot is a bottle rocket, the scope is epic, and the tricky balance between quirky visual gags and tragic poignancy is downright masterful.
Give the series credit, each episode keeps upping the weirdness, comedy and, surprisingly, the dramatic ante.
It's unexpectedly good. Iain Hollands' apocalyptic British-American co-production quickly reveals itself to be something really quite sharp and as capable of moving the viewer as it is making them giggle.
Instead, the threat of humanity's doom is what motivates each person to finally begin a new chapter in their lives. The show definitely has promise, and I'm in for the ride.
With a show about everyone dying, things either need to be consistently funny so we know it's okay to laugh, or consistently heavy so we know it's okay to panic.

Jun 21, If they had worked on more actual comedic content instead of desperately cramming in every uber-liberal political issue going they might have had a winning show that had many seasons behind it Comedy should be edgy, confrontational and filled with crippling honesty but when you use it as a political tool to push virtually every 'hashtag trendy' agenda it feels contrived and it became tiring.
